TOUCH WEB DESIGNS CREATES WEBSITE FOR ALA FUNDRAISER
When Deena Kinkade Adams and her team of “Friends for Good Charities” were looking at what to do for their third annual fundraiser for the American Lung Association of Kentucky, they knew that they’d need a great website to support their fundraising efforts. And, they asked Touch Web Designs for help designing the site.
This year’s event “An Evening at the Blind Tiger,” benefits one of the most important health-centered charities in Kentuckiana. In 1920’s lingo, a blind tiger was a speakeasy. For this event, it is code for equal parts Halloween costume party for grown-ups, chic dinner party, live music theater and an upscale auction.
Designing the Website
Working with the team at Touch Web Designs, Deena and her marketing team were assigned a Project Coordinator, Will Sanders, who guided them through the delivery process. Together they gathered the requirements needed to create the site. The Friends for Good Charities, had Bernie Mudd of Mudd Graphic Design, working on the overall branding for the event. Bernie offered to the header graphic for the website so that it looked like all of the other marketing materials. Carole Gunst pulled all of the content together for the site and served as the webmaster and point person for the “Blind Tiger” team.
Once requirements were gathered, the group chose a look for their site based on the Touch Web Design template library. Next, they chose a color palette. And, Touch Web Designs went to work building the site. When the website was ready, the Friends for Good Charities team reviewed their site. Even though it was content-free, they showed it to the larger team at their monthly meeting. And, it was a hit!
The next step was to fill the website with the content that they had outlined when they developed the tabs for the website: ”About the Event“, “About ALA of KY,” “Live Auction Items,” “Buy Tickets or Donate,” “News,” and “Contact Us.” Sponsors were added to the sponsor’s section as they came on board. And, the Touch Web Design team even added social media icons that make it easy to share information about the fundraiser with a variety of audiences.
Blind Tiger for ALA Website is a Huge Success
In an e-mail to the Touch Web Designs team, Deena said:
“Thank you is quite an inadequate expression for the wonderful work you have done on this project. As I’ve told Carole, I am not the techie, but know enough to realize this has been much work and effort. The creation of this site is more than we could have hoped for. (and this is not small by any definition!)
Carole and Bernie are incredible support for us as we “up the game” this year. Their expertise will keep the site updated as we continue to grow the event. Carole was “spot on” with her report on the team reviews of the site…our committee loved it. Several iPhones were passed around displaying the test site during our meeting.
Our hopes are high for raising significant funds for and awareness of lung/air issues in this community. For your great contribution to this effort we are truly grateful.”
